Rain and Cocktail Parties

Yep it's still raining here. The best view of the rain is from my office, I am on the 61st floor of the IFC tower and can see all of Kowloon and New Territories. The view on the stormy days from here is mesmerizing: when the dark clouds rush from mainland over the mountains, almost black like giant spider legs, they move slowly rolling over the hills, then as they get closer to the harbour, encouraged by the wind, they speed up and suddenly you get a peak of the giant body behind the legs. Your imagination is running wild, there is something so primal about the power of nature. In a few seconds there nothing but a black wall of rain. You almost feel grateful for being locked up in a man made cement tower.

As quickly as the rain comes, it disappears, the dark spider crawls back into a far away corner of your subconscious and the grey sky looks almost harmless, more gloomy than scary, more subdued.

The beauty of this is that almost every night the clouds clear up and you can see far and clear. If you venture up towards the peak, the island and the mainland both seem new and clean, sparkling with lights, almost free from the summer dirt and humidity.

Tomorrow it might rain again or the sun may finally bless us with it's presence but today you thank the rain for doing the dirty work and cleaning this very messy city.

Back to fashion - here are the promised photos of the Electric Sekki party for Richard Nicoll. A perfect combination of fun and fashion people, HK bloggers, cupcakes, popcorn, champagne and Richard of course. One of the funniest parts was when Priscilla brought out a pair of small/giant red lips and then got everyone to pose with them. Priceless!

SAM did a perfect round up of all the blogger posts on Richard so check them out in case you have not seen them and check out her umbrella, I usually hate umbrellas but this is one is amazing!

For the party I was in a silky, long and cosy moody which was a little out of the realms of edgy chic of most of the invitees, hence I found myself feeling slightly bit under-dressed. Wearing skirt by Initial, Top Club Monaco, bracelet Bimba & Lola and Boots Zara.

P.S. Thank you Daniel for the awesome photo :)

  4. Although I couldn't find your name on the sidebar of your blog, I want to thank you for you kind compliment regarding my writing. Reading your posts, however, I find that your writing is much more intriguing, creative and concise. I admire it and strive to write in such a manner. I only truly began writing last year after I finished grade 12 english.

There's such a stunning calm to your writing. I love how you captured the storm. Also, what's not to love about the event you attended? Fabulous!

  6. I'm currently on the 43rd floor in Times Square, but that really does not compare with 61st floor in IFC! I've always thought it'd be really cool to work in IFC. And though finance isn't very glamorous, it surely pays well enough for you to get the nice things you want! I'm so glad the rain is finally gone, just looking out the window is depressing itself. But with the blue skies come the sun! Sometimes I dont know which is worse!
